The Canorient Christian Association held their annual Family Picnic on June 20th 2015 at Sandy Beach Park, a beautiful, pet friendly park, located along the scenic Elbow River in Southwest Calgary.
This free event for our members turned out to be a very successful one, with over 70 people in attendance. We had a picnic site complete with a fire pit, and adjacent to pathways and a playground for the kids to enjoy. Taking in the beautiful scenery, people enjoyed walking on the beach, wading in the shallow water, long walks and bicycling on the pathways. There were even a few four-legged friends enjoying themselves along with the rest of us.
The day progressed with tombola and a game of cricket, and when everything was said and done, tasty samosas and “chai” tea was served, keeping up with the tradition of “cricket” and “tea” going hand in hand.
In the afternoon, Mother Nature decided to join in the fun, and sprinkled us with some wet stuff, but then again… what’s a picnic without a bit of rain?
The committee would like to extend a big “Thank You” to all those that came out.
